The Place to be for all designers? we recommend to start browsing the "Design by Nature" gallery with lots of examples on biomimetics. This is a young science of adapting designs from nature to solve industrial problems.

This example is out of the boxfish´s reserch: "The boxfish's surprisingly streamlined form inspired Mercedes-Benz's bionic concept car. Flowing vapors during wind-tunnel tests in a Stuttgart facility show off the car's aerodynamics, which helps boost its gas mileage to as high as 70 miles per gallon."

d: Design braucht Inspiration. Eine besondere Quelle ist nach wie vor die Natur. Sie bietet immer wieder Lösungen, die wir auf die probleme unserer güter anwenden können. Wer diesbezüglich bildhaftes material sucht, ist auf der National Geographic Photography Webseite bestens aufgehoben.

Für den Designer empfehlen wir dabei den bereich "Design by Nature". Eine Gallery mit vielen beispielen aus der angewandten bionic. Eine noch junge Disziplin, die Naturfunktionen auf künstlich hergestellte produkte adaptiert.
